Melksham cruised to a 38-21 opening day victory over Holt B in Division One of the Moonraker League.
Melksham’s excellent shooting partnership of Ruth Beaven and Tracey Hanman meant every early shooting opportunity resulted in a goal, and the first quarter ended 12-4 in Melksham’s favour.
The second quarter saw Melksham storm ahead. Centre Lisa Kellett kept the team together with good defending and precise passes to the shooters, assisted by Jane Andrew at wing attack.
Holt never got a look-in as they were limited by the defending team of Steph Grant and Mel Rolph, and the second quarter ended 25-10 to Melksham.
In the third Holt came back stronger but Melksham continued to increased their score, and led 30-16 at the start of the last quarter.
Melksham retained the lead in the final quarter with the defensive team of Grant, Holly Schafer and Sharon Rotheray keeping Holt at bay.
Hartley and Andrew ensured Beaven and Kellett had the most of the ball, with the final result being 38-21 to Melksham.
