POLICE are appealing for a man to come forward who they believe may have vital information about a serious sexual assault.

Officers are investigating a serious sexual assault that took place at The Anchor Hotel in Warminster between 6pm on Tuesday September 16 and 2am on Wednesday September 17.

Today they have issued an appeal for a man, who was at the Anchor Hotel drinking outside on the benches and talking to a young woman, to get in contact with them.

Officers believe the man may have given the girl his telephone number.

PC Steve Carol, of Trowbridge CID, said: “He is being treated as a witness and we believe he may have crucial information that will assist this investigation.”

He is described as white, 28-30 years old, 5ft 10ins tall, of slim build with short, dark spiky hair. He was wearing blue jeans and a grey or cream long sleeved top.

Anyone with information should contact PC Steve Carol on 0845 408 7000 extension 725567.
